Financial Aid for Study Abroad

You can find additional information and scholarships on the LTU Financial Aid page.

Students interested in study abroad, should complete a FAFSA (www.fafsa.gov) to become eligible for additional aid outside of the university during their time abroad. Be mindful of deadlines. Many scholarships and financial aid packages will fund, at least in part, learning experiences that take place overseas.

Be sure to verify with the Office of Financial Aid that your current aid package can be applied to your study abroad experience and to see if you qualify for additional scholarships or loans. All study abroad-related expenses-including airfare, housing abroad, passport fees, visas, etc-are education expenses that make students eligible for more aid. Eligibility for additional aid, however, does not guarantee additional aid.

There are many external scholarship options for students who are interested in study abroad. These scholarships are competitive and have specific requirements restricting such factors as academic majors, countries of study, and financial need.
