Ray Award Honoree John Sammut Lends His Time, Talent and Treasure to LTU

There’s a reason why John Sammut has invested his time and treasure in LTU since graduating with electrical engineering and business administration degrees in 1988.

“My education at LTU is a huge part of my career, and the connections I made through the University have contributed to my success in countless ways,” said John, who is the CEO of Electronics North America with LACROIX.

Currently, he is a member of the College of Engineering Advisory board; he’s also a past member of the Alumni Association Board and in 2007 he won the Alumni Achievement Award.

He is also known for sponsoring Blue Devil Motorsports activities, where students get real-world experience competing in teams and bringing their technological innovations to life. He also teamed up with his fellow Phi Kappa Upsilon fraternity brother and alumnus Peter Barclae on LTU’s Giving Day two years in a row.

Leading with generous gifts of their own, they inspired their fellow PKU peers to make donations to the fraternity’s scholarship fund – enough to make sure it would be endowed for years to come.

“I feel it’s important to give back to LTU and support incoming students through scholarships, so that they can have the same opportunities I enjoyed,” John said. “There’s nothing more fulfilling in terms of my career achievements than paying it forward for others, and making sure others can also afford LTU’s life-changing education!”
