Donley Award Winner Juliana Azzi (MSArE’24) Enjoys Reputation as a Campus Leader

While Juliana Azzi wanted her time at LTU to be memorable, she also wanted to make a positive impact on her fellow students.

Turns out she has done all that and more.

“Juliana is an amazing individual who sees service as the cornerstone for everything she does,” said LTU’s DEI director Dr. Caryn Reed-Hendon in her award nomination form. “With philanthropy and community engagement as her foundation, she uses her time and talents to lift up Lawrence Tech in the best possible way.”

As the Student Philanthropy Council’s Vice President of Impact and Outreach, Juliana led the way on events such as the canned food drive. “I love to see students involved on campus while achieving their academic goals, and Juliana sets a strong example of what talented LTU students bring to the table,” noted Rachel Vincent, Juliana’s former Student Philanthropy Council Advisor.

Juliana was also vice president for the student chapters of several engineering organizations such as the Architectural Engineering Institute, American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Cooling Engineers, and Illuminating Engineering Society. Additionally, she was the vice president of LTU’s Black Student Union and held multiple roles in Student Government including executive vice president, VP of finance, and senate leader.

In 2023, Juliana won the Lawrence Tech Phenomenal Woman Award and was also voted Outstanding Member of a Student Organization. Juliana also won the Architectural Engineering Service Award in 2024. Her leadership skills were on display as a First Year Ignite Leader when she helped lead her senior capstone team to first and second place finishes in AEI’s student design competition.

Juliana was also a paid research assistant in both the College of Engineering and the department of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Communication. She used her knowledge of electrical systems and renewable energy to teach kids in summer camp and served as content editor for LTU’s Campus Abuzz. Putting theory into practice, Juliana also worked as an electrical engineering intern with M A Engineering and SmithGroup.
