If this is an emergency or if you need immediate assistance, call 911 or LTU Campus safety at (248) 204-3945.
Clinical Counseling Services offers LTU students short-term and goal-oriented mental health counseling, educational programming, and mental health training for both staff and students to support student health and well being.
Therapy services are provided to assist students who are experiencing things like: anxiety, depression, academic concerns, relationship issues, stress, minority stress or marginalization, identity development, sexual violence, adjustment to university life, family conflict, grief, organization and time management challenges, trauma, and more. Most students meet individually for 45-minute appointments with the counselors. If there is a request from students, counselors will offer group counseling.
Students interested in using our services should visit our Online Scheduling Page for information. You will meet with a counselor to determine your concerns and the best plan to meet your goals. For security reasons you must be using a laptop or desktop to use the scheduling page not a phone or tablet.
Appointments are offered Monday – Friday between 9am-5pm.
Counseling staff cannot offer appointments when the university is closed and classes are not in session (for holidays, winter break, inclement weather, or other campus closure)
Due to the demand for services, we cannot guarantee that students can receive frequent and regular (i.e. weekly or biweekly appointments). In some cases, we may suggest and help students find counselors outside of the university to better meet their needs.
Please note that our office is unable to prescribe medication and cannot provide testing and documentation for accommodations or emotional support animals. We will refer students to outside providers if these services are requested.
Lawrence Tech faculty, staff, students and parents who have concerns about a student are encouraged to contact us. The clinicians are available to listen and can help develop a plan to assist the student of concern. The counselors follow confidentiality laws and cannot disclose if a student is currently in treatment.
At times, a referral to an off-campus provider best serves the student’s mental health needs. We have partnered with Mi Resource to provide a listing of local clinicians. Students may access this list on their own or after speaking with one of our staff.
