Testing

Students who are unable to complete exams/quizzes during regularly scheduled class time can take them at the SSC with their instructor’s approval.

We will make every effort to accommodate a student’s schedule when making an exam appointment, however, students should be proactive in communicating and scheduling their exams.

Faculty and students, please follow these steps to schedule a test in the SSC:

  1. Student will initiate the request to the instructor to take a test in the SSC.
  2. Instructor will fill out this Google Form.
  3. SSC staff will email the student a link to schedule an appointment once the form is received. Tentative appointment bookings will be forwarded to the instructor for their reference.
  4. Instructor will submit all materials for SSC staff to confirm the appointment. You may upload directly to the Google form, hand deliver, or email them to ssctesting@ltu.edu. If the instructor does not submit the test, the appointment will remain tentative.

Preparing for your exam
  • Appointments can be made as little as 2 hours in advance, if your instructor agrees.
  • You will need to sign a Testing Service Form in person before each exam. Bring your student ID and any required materials (pencil, calculator, etc.) to the appointment.
  • Students are responsible for communicating with your instructor.
  • If we do not have your testing materials at least 1 hour before your tentative appointment, your appointment will be cancelled and you’ll need to discuss with your instructor.
  • If you show up more than 15 minutes late for your exam, your appointment may be cancelled.
  • Only 1 reschedule will be allowed for tests/exams.

Exam Proctoring
  • SSC Staff monitor students taking tests via a camera system and frequent walk-throughs.
  • If the student is in any way exhibiting behaviors that do not follow the Academic Honor Code or Student Code of Conduct, we will immediately stop your exam and inform your instructor. Any further action is at the discretion of the instructor and/or director.

Instructors
  • Any variance from the submitted Google form must be communicated with the SSC through ssctesting@ltu.edu or through a revised Google form. The SSC staff will not stray from the information and instructions provided on the Google form and testing materials.
  • You can submit the Google form and testing materials the day of the exam.
  • Students are directed to communicate with you throughout the process. When SSC staff is communicating with the student, we will make every effort to copy the instructor.
  • When you fill out the Google Form, please note any relevant instructions, particularly with regards to allowances related to student accommodations (e.g., if a formula sheet is provided or to be brought by the student). Please be as specific as possible with your instructions.
  • For students with documented disabilities, refer to the “Accommodations Memo” provided to you by the Access and Accommodations office for the student when determining proctoring instructions. Questions about students with disability accommodations should be addressed to the Access and Accommodations office.
  • We will allow students to take their tests on Canvas/online if you authorize that on the Google Form.  Please note, we cannot monitor their internet usage during their exam. We are only able to monitor what we can see in our cameras.
  • Once the exam is completed, test will be returned on Wednesdays to the Dean’s office of your college each week. Due to the volume of tests we administer, we will not be delivering to each department. If you’d like to pick up the exam, please note this on the Google Form.
