» Move In Requirements

If you have not paid the $250 housing deposit, or if you are not registered as a full-time student by August 1st, you will not be allowed to move into your room.

If you are an undergraduate student, full-time status is 12 credit hours and if you are a graduate student, full-time status is 6 credit hours.

» First Year Move In

If you are a new student to the University, your move in date is Wednesday, August 20th from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

What to Expect on Move In Day

Check in is located in the lobby of the building you are assigned to live in.

What you need:

  • Student ID
  • Any documents you have yet to turn in

We encourage you to arrive during your assigned time below to assist with check in lines, elevator use, and hallway congestion.

There will be a dinner for students and families at 5pm and a parent send off at 6:30pm. There will be evening activities for students.

First Year Ignite

First Year Ignite is mandatory for all First Year Students.

First Year Ignite is a students only event that serves as an orientation focused on the first-year experience, campus involvement, history and traditions, and the spirit of LTU.

First Year Ignite begins Thursday, August 21st at 9 am.

» East Hall Move In Day Checklist

» Upperclass Move In

Move in for Donley Hall, Reuss Hall, and South Hall will be Saturday, August 23rd and Sunday, August 24th.

What to Expect on Move In Day

Check in is located in the lobby of the building you are assigned to live in.

What you need:

  • Student ID
  • Any documents you have yet to turn in

You will receive your keys and Room/Apartment Condition Inventory form (RCI/ACI) at check in.

Fill out your RCI or ACI and return it to the check in table – this ensures you will not be charged for existing damages to your room at the end of the year.

Now you can begin moving in!

Please Note: Limited carts and bins will be available on a first come first serve basis.

» New International Student Move In

New international students can move in as early as Monday, August 18th to participate in New International Student Orientation.

» Athlete Move In

The following teams are approved for early move in on the following dates:

What to Expect on Move In Day

Check in for all student athletes is located under the UTLC Bridge (building # 13), unless specified otherwise (see above chart).

Students should talk to coaches about meal arrangements as meal plans will not activate until the first day of classes.

» Prohibited Items

Any prohibited item(s) found in residents’ rooms or apartments will be confiscated. The return of these items is at the discretion of the Office of University Housing. All violations are subject to the Student Code of Conduct.

Due to health concerns, upholstered furniture is strictly prohibited in South Hall and Donley Hall. Residents of Reuss Hall and East Hall may bring small sofas and/or chairs with proof of purchase within three (3) months of bringing the item to campus. Proof of purchase must be submitted to the building’s Residence Hall Coordinator.

The following is a non-exclusive list of prohibited items, and is subject to change at the discretion of the Office of University Housing:

  • More than 2 mini-refrigerators per room larger than 4.3 cubic feet
  • Personal dishwashers and air conditioners
  • Kitchen appliances without an automatic shut-off or with an exposed heating element
  • Adhesive LED strip lights
  • Candles, Candle Warmers, Wax Melters, Incense
  • Command Strips – Campus Facilities recommends using small nails or push pins
  • Electric blankets
  • Extension cords – except for surge-protected power strips
  • Fireworks
  • Flammable or hazardous materials
  • Fog machines
  • Grills
  • Halogen lamps
  • Hoverboards
  • Lava lamps
  • Live holiday trees
  • Mattresses
  • Non-LED adhesive decorative lights
  • Neon signs
  • Space heaters without an automatic shut off function
  • Sun lamps
  • Waterbeds
  • Weapons
  • Other items deemed “dangerous” or “unsafe” by the Office of University Housing

» May Move In

Move-In for Spring 2026 is Sunday, January 11, 2026 starting at 10 a.m.

New International Students who are attending the International Orientation can move in on Monday, January 5th. You must let University Housing know via email if you are arriving early.

New International Students who are moving in early for the International Orientation will not be charged for moving in early.

Use Your Cell Phone as a Document Camera in Zoom

  • What you will need to have and do
  • Download the mobile Zoom app (either App Store or Google Play)
  • Have your phone plugged in
  • Set up video stand phone holder

From Computer

Log in and start your Zoom session with participants

From Phone

  • Start the Zoom session on your phone app (suggest setting your phone to “Do not disturb” since your phone screen will be seen in Zoom)
  • Type in the Meeting ID and Join
  • Do not use phone audio option to avoid feedback
  • Select “share content” and “screen” to share your cell phone’s screen in your Zoom session
  • Select “start broadcast” from Zoom app. The home screen of your cell phone is now being shared with your participants.

To use your cell phone as a makeshift document camera

  • Open (swipe to switch apps) and select the camera app on your phone
  • Start in photo mode and aim the camera at whatever materials you would like to share
  • This is where you will have to position what you want to share to get the best view – but you will see ‘how you are doing’ in the main Zoom session.
