Reuss Hall Closing Notice

  • Make sure you have removed all belongings from your room.
    • Any belongings left in the room will be thrown away and you will be billed for removal of property. University Housing does not offer any storage over the summer.
  • Make sure you have cleaned all areas of your room, the desk and dresser drawers, closets, window sills and all furniture, etc.
    • Any areas not cleaned will be result in a charge, this includes floors, wiping down furniture, cleaning out drawers, etc.
  • In East Hall, you may either check out with one of your RAs, or you may turn in an Express Checkout form at the East Hall Information Desk.
    • If a desk worker is not available, please complete an Express Checkout form and put all forms and keys in the “Outgoing Mail” slot by the printer.
  • In Reuss Hall, you must see the Desk Worker at the Reuss Information Desk to complete your checkout, or complete an Express Checkout Form.
    • If the desk is closed, or if staff is not available, you may have to complete the Express Checkout Form.
  • You MUST check out 24 hours after your last final, unless you have been given approval for an extended stay, or if you have already made your travel arrangements.
  • Fill out your mail forwarding address card and turn it in at the information desk.
  • Check your mailbox one last time before turning in your keys.
  • Once you or your RA completes your room check, you will sign your RCI and turn in your keys.
    • If you are completing an Express Checkout, you will put your keys and your mail forwarding card in the envelope provided with your form and place the entire packet in the Outgoing Mail Slot.

    • If the desk is closed, or if a staff member is not available, you may have to complete an Express Checkout Form
  • Verify your summer address and complete a mail forwarding card.
  • Sign your ACI, or follow the instructions on the Express Checkout Form.
  • Turn in your keys.
    • If you are completing an Express Checkout Form, you must turn in your keys and mail forwarding card using the envelope provided with your form and slide the packet under the office door.

Damage Assessments

Resident Assistants and the University Housing Professional Staff will assess all damage and cleaning charges on your ACI/RCI. Your RA will assess the room condition on your ACI/RCI during your check out.
Repair, cleaning or replacement charges for damaged, dirty or unreturned/missing University Housing property (including keys, laundry cards and furniture) will be billed to the Student Account of the resident.
ALL ROOMMATES WILL BE BILLED AN EQUAL SHARE OF DAMAGE AND CLEANING CHARGES UNLESS the individual who did the damage admits responsibility in writing.
Even if you check out prior to your roommates and when you leave the apartment is clean and there are no damages, all roommates may be billed equally for the damage.
You may email housing@ltu.edu to contest the charges as long as you checkout properly with your RA. The Resident Assistants and the Professional Staff will try their best to bill students accordingly but if you have a discrepancy please do not hesitate to contact the Office of University Housing if your student account has been charged.
ALL APPEALS MUST BE RECEIVED BY 4 PM ON JUNE 24, 2022. THEY MAY BE SUBMITTED IN PERSON AT THE OFFICE OF UNIVERSITY HOUSING (C406) OR VIA EMAIL AT housing@ltu.edu.

Residents’ Closing Checklist

Residents are required to leave their rooms in a neat and orderly condition before checking out. Following is a checklist of some items/condition the Housing and Campus Facilities staff will be noting as they check your room:

  • Furniture: make sure all furniture is put back, arranged properly, and wiped down
  • Desk: clean, pull out each drawer, check underneath and behind drawers
  • Chair: clean
  • Dresser: clean, pull out each drawer, check underneath and behind drawers
  • Bed: assembled and arranged properly. Beds cannot remain bunked.
  • Closets: clean
  • Walls: for dirt, holes, nails, tape, paint chips, etc
  • Floor swept and cleaned and any tape or gummy residue removed
  • Room door: free of all stickers, door tags, flyers, etc. and locked
  • Window: closed & locked, window sill wiped down
  • All trash removed and taken to the dumpster
  • Cable and Ethernet cords left in room on desk

» Thanksgiving Break Information

The residence halls will remain open for Thanksgiving Break.
Residents must report if they intend to stay at any point over the break.

  • Residents are not required to leave housing during the Thanksgiving Break period, but they must report they are staying via this form.  
  • All University Housing Guideline policies are still in effect during the break period.
  • Per the Housing Guidelines, no guests are permitted in housing during the break period.
  • The last day for dining services before the break will be Wednesday, November 22nd. The Blue Devil Cafe will be open 10am-4pm.
  • All dining services will be closed from Thursday, November 24th through Saturday, November 25th with normal hours resuming on Sunday, November 26th.

» Winter Closing Information

The residence halls will close for the semester break on Friday, December 15, 2023 at 12pm and reopen on Sunday, January 7, 2024 at 10am.

Winter Break Application

Students must apply to stay late, come back early, or stay in the residence halls over the break period. Approvals are not guaranteed. To submit your request, please fill out THIS FORM. All requests must be submitted by Monday, November 27, 2023 by 4pm. 

Entire Break$500.00
Extension/Early Arrival$50.00/day

If you are staying due to a job, internship, or co-op, you must provide a letter from the employer stating the need for your stay. This letter must include confirmation of employment, employer information, and potential work schedule.

Cancellation Requests

If you wish to apply to cancel your housing for Spring 2024, you must fill out the application below and turn it into the Office of University Housing, C404, by Monday, November 27th, 2023 by 4pm.

Your application may be denied based on your reason for cancellation.

Students will be notified by December 6th, 2023 with the status of their application.

Room Change Requests

If you wish to change rooms you must fill out the form below.

Room change requests are due to the Office of University Housing, C404, by Monday, November 27th, 2023 by 4pm.

Students will be notified by December 6th, 2023 with the status of their room change.

Meal Change Requests

If you wish to change your meal plan for Spring 2024, you must fill out the form below. Forms are due by Friday, January 19, 2024 by 4pm to the Office of University Housing, C404.

Freshmen must have either the 15 meals or 19 meals a week meal plans.

» May Move Out Information

All residence halls will officially close at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 9th, 2025.

Residents are required to check out of their room within 24 hours after their last exam. Any resident not checked out by Friday, May 3rd and does not have an approved extension will be fined and subject to discipline according to the Student Code of Conduct.

Checkout Procedures by Building

 

Donley Hall

When you are ready to check out, please see the Desk Worker at the Donley Hall Information Desk.

If a Desk Worker is not available, please complete an Express Checkout Form.

East Hall

Resident Assistants will have a “Check Out Schedule” posted at their door. Please try to sign up for a time with one of the RAs on your floor at least  24 hours in advance of when you would like to leave campus. (For example, if you are planning to leave on Thursday at 4pm, you should put that on the available RAs schedule no later than Wednesday at 4pm).

If you are not able to connect with an RA to complete your checkout, please see the Desk Worker at the East Hall Information Desk to complete an Express Checkout.

If a Desk Worker or RA is not available, please complete an Express Checkout Form, place your keys in the provided envelope, and place the envelope in the “Outgoing Mail” Slot by the East Printer.

Reuss Hall

When you are ready to check out, please see the Desk Worker at the Reuss Hall Information Desk.

If a Desk Worker is not available, please complete an Express Checkout Form.

South Hall

When you are ready to check out, please see the Desk Worker at the South Hall Information Desk.

If a Desk Worker is not available, please complete an Express Checkout Form.

Residents may request to stay longer by emailing a Housing Extension Request Form to their building Residence Hall Coordinator.
All residents must be moved out by Friday, May 9th, 2025 unless they are approved for an extension.

Residents who have summer housing may stay in their current room. You will be notified when your summer room assignment is ready for you to move into.

Extended Quiet & Courtesy Hours

April 27th – May 9th

Quiet hours are established to ensure residents have the opportunity to study in their rooms and sleep without noise disturbances.

  • Your volume (which includes, but is not limited to: your voice, music, TV, etc.) should not be enough to be heard clearly through the walls or in the hallway. 
  • Quiet hours are in effect 24 hours a day. From 7pm – 8pm daily quiet hours are lifted. During this time, courtesy hours still apply.
  • Residents who repeatedly violate the Extended Quiet Hours policy may be asked to leave the residence hall before Friday, May 3rd, 2024.
Summer Housing

Students remaining in Housing for the Summer session, must be ready to move at any time and you will have 48 hours to move once you are notified that your Summer room is ready. You will receive further instructions from the Office of University Housing. You will stay in your current room until your summer room is ready.

Use Your Cell Phone as a Document Camera in Zoom

  • What you will need to have and do
  • Download the mobile Zoom app (either App Store or Google Play)
  • Have your phone plugged in
  • Set up video stand phone holder

From Computer

Log in and start your Zoom session with participants

From Phone

  • Start the Zoom session on your phone app (suggest setting your phone to “Do not disturb” since your phone screen will be seen in Zoom)
  • Type in the Meeting ID and Join
  • Do not use phone audio option to avoid feedback
  • Select “share content” and “screen” to share your cell phone’s screen in your Zoom session
  • Select “start broadcast” from Zoom app. The home screen of your cell phone is now being shared with your participants.

To use your cell phone as a makeshift document camera

  • Open (swipe to switch apps) and select the camera app on your phone
  • Start in photo mode and aim the camera at whatever materials you would like to share
  • This is where you will have to position what you want to share to get the best view – but you will see ‘how you are doing’ in the main Zoom session.
