Stefanini named presenting sponsor of LTU Research Day April 21

March 15, 2023

SOUTHFIELD—Stefanini, a Brazil-based software and IT services company with its North American headquarters in Southfield, has been named presenting sponsor of Lawrence Technological University’s 10th annual Research Day, scheduled for Friday, April 22 on the LTU campus.

LTU Research Day features the scholarly work of the university’s faculty and students. Last year, nearly 100 research projects were presented, either in in-person presentations or poster displays.

“Stefanini believes in the importance of fostering young minds and supporting innovative research projects,” said Stefanini global chief marketing officer Carla Ferber. “That’s what we love about LTU: the focus on developing the talent of tomorrow, which will drive us all toward a better future.”

Matthew Cole, associate professor in LTU’s College of Business and Information Technology and Research Day director, thanked Stefanini for its “support of Lawrence Tech’s accomplished young scholars and their significant, groundbreaking research.”

Added LTU President Tarek Sobh: “Contributing new knowledge of serious intellectual merit is one of the primary missions of a high-quality university. Every day, LTU’s faculty and students are working on interdisciplinary research that advances knowledge in the subjects we teach, doing their part to contribute to a better society.”

LTU has received more than $1 million in grants over the past decade to encourage incorporating scholarly research into undergraduate courses starting with students’ freshman year–a rarity at most universities. The program is called “course-based research experiences,” or CRE.

On Research Day, more than $3,000 in prizes will be awarded to the best research in five categories: best undergraduate student CRE poster, best undergraduate student non-CRE poster, best graduate student research poster, best faculty research poster, and best oral presentation.
