Introduction to Entrepreneurship

This course introduces students to the primary aspects necessary for launching a new venture or business. Students will work in teams to develop a product or service from the planning stages to implementation that will result in a business plan. Students will also learn about the supporting functions to a start-up venture and the characteristics of a successful entrepreneur.

Design + Tech Studio

This introductory design studio focuses on engaging students in trans-disciplinary design exploration through critical-thinking and experimentation. In this course students will focus on gaining an understanding of design and the design process through critical research, analysis, synthesis, ideation and deployment. Students will be introduced to the formal and conceptual principles of design; learn how to employ different thinking methods; identify and understand elements used in design; gain a working knowledge of analogue and digital tolls used in the practice of design and small-scale manufacturing; and be introduced to the idea of design entrepreneurship.

Lunch and Learn

Drop by any of our Lunch & Learns to strengthen your skills while grabbing a bite to eat.  Held from 11:30am to 12:30pm on the third Thursday of every month in the Buell Building’s room M336, capacity is set at 25 based on first come first served.

Use Your Cell Phone as a Document Camera in Zoom

  • What you will need to have and do
  • Download the mobile Zoom app (either App Store or Google Play)
  • Have your phone plugged in
  • Set up video stand phone holder

From Computer

Log in and start your Zoom session with participants

From Phone

  • Start the Zoom session on your phone app (suggest setting your phone to “Do not disturb” since your phone screen will be seen in Zoom)
  • Type in the Meeting ID and Join
  • Do not use phone audio option to avoid feedback
  • Select “share content” and “screen” to share your cell phone’s screen in your Zoom session
  • Select “start broadcast” from Zoom app. The home screen of your cell phone is now being shared with your participants.

To use your cell phone as a makeshift document camera

  • Open (swipe to switch apps) and select the camera app on your phone
  • Start in photo mode and aim the camera at whatever materials you would like to share
  • This is where you will have to position what you want to share to get the best view – but you will see ‘how you are doing’ in the main Zoom session.
