NCEES Engineering Education Award $10,000 Winner

Horizon Innovations architectural and engineering design teams have worked collectively to deliver a comprehensive and rigorous set of architectural engineering construction documents for the development and construction of the Oakland University LEED Platinum Interdisciplinary Research Center. This project is all-inclusive in design-development comprising of building architectural design, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering design work as well as construction engineering including construction project management from ground break to building occupancy and management.

Each member of the Horizons Innovations Architects & Engineers student team, was able to provide the knowledge, diligence and integrity that is essential in every aspect of the projects design and development phases. Outstanding execution of real-world processes in the collective manner necessary to coordinate all discipline-specific components, led not only to successful project completion, but winning the NCEES Engineering Education Award. Working on projects such as the designing of the OUIRC, with real-world needs, gives students the opportunity to provide analysis and solutions to challenges that they may face, in the engineering field as professionals.
