This project aims to quantitatively address the excess force applied while using intubation blade in medical procedures that results in better techniques and less force.
A group of BME seniors, advised by Michael Lancina, Ph.D., and in collaboration with Joseph Crutcher, DHS, in the Simulation Lab at Ascension Providence Hospital, used flexiforce sensors to measure the amount of force obtained when using an intubation blade to: 1) allow better techniques to occur with less force being applied and 2) allow medical staff to have quantitative data to use while practicing the intubation technique.
