The Control Systems Laboratory focuses on mechanical and electrical systems design using control loops and feedback mechanisms.

Mechanical and electrical systems are controlled with programmable logic systems. Typical goals for the lab include:

  • Training students with hands-on real-time control systems using the Quanser® Qube Servo System.
    • The Qube Servo System is a flexible learning tool that can be configured into several types of systems that give the students a variety of experiences  with real control systems
    • Students characterize the Qube Servo System mathematically and verify their calculations against the real system
  • Students design controllers to specified requirements using MATLAB/SimuLink.  They test their controller designs against the real system using the hardware interface to MATLAB/SimuLink

Other equipment include, Digital Control Hardware systems to develop and test control algorithms, and a quarter vehicle model is available to simulate systems with three degrees of freedom.
