The Alternative Energy Lab contains facilities for studying advanced battery technology with a charge-discharge system and ultracapacitor testing system.

Hydrogen powered fuel cells (1.2 kW to 8.0 kW) are maintained with a hydrogen gas farm and extensive testing. Power generation technologies include photovoltaic modules, small-scale biofuel production, and a wind turbine. Load banks (28 kW, 10 kW, 1.8 kW, and 1.5 kW) and National Instruments data acquisition hardware are available.
