» Program Overview

The Graphic Media Arts (GMA) program provides hands-on training in visual design, branding, and digital content creation. Designed for students looking to break into the creative industry without committing to a four-year degree, this program prepares graduates for entry-level positions at advertising agencies, design studios, corporate marketing departments, publishing, social media marketing, and more.

GMA students gain real-world experience in:

  • Design & Branding – Creating logos, layouts, and visual identities for businesses, products, and marketing campaigns
  • Adobe Creative Cloud – Editing photos in Photoshop, creating vector graphics in Illustrator, and designing professional layouts in InDesign
  • Web & Social Media Design – Building and maintaining websites using WordPress and crafting digital content for online marketing
  • Typography & Color Theory – Understanding how fonts, colors, and composition impact effective visual communication
  • Print Production – Formatting and designing press-ready materials for professional printing
  • Copyright & Digital Rights – Learning the legal side of design, including intellectual property and content usage rights

 

Upon completion, graduates will have the skills and portfolio needed to step into the industry as designers, marketers, and content creators. Whether working in print, digital media, or social branding, GMA graduates will be ready to bring ideas to life through design.

Fundamentals of Graphic Design

This course introduces students to the core principles of graphic design, including composition, typography, and color theory. Students will explore visual communication techniques used in advertising, branding, and digital media. Intro to Computer Graphics

This course provides hands-on experience with industry-standard graphic design software. Students will learn how to create vector graphics in Adobe Illustrator, edit and manipulate images in Adobe Photoshop, and design print layouts in Adobe InDesign.

Use Your Cell Phone as a Document Camera in Zoom

  • What you will need to have and do
  • Download the mobile Zoom app (either App Store or Google Play)
  • Have your phone plugged in
  • Set up video stand phone holder

From Computer

Log in and start your Zoom session with participants

From Phone

  • Start the Zoom session on your phone app (suggest setting your phone to “Do not disturb” since your phone screen will be seen in Zoom)
  • Type in the Meeting ID and Join
  • Do not use phone audio option to avoid feedback
  • Select “share content” and “screen” to share your cell phone’s screen in your Zoom session
  • Select “start broadcast” from Zoom app. The home screen of your cell phone is now being shared with your participants.

To use your cell phone as a makeshift document camera

  • Open (swipe to switch apps) and select the camera app on your phone
  • Start in photo mode and aim the camera at whatever materials you would like to share
  • This is where you will have to position what you want to share to get the best view – but you will see ‘how you are doing’ in the main Zoom session.
