Letter from the President

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

I am immensely pleased and proud of our collective efforts over the past year. Our successful collaboration has enabled us to advance many of our strategic initiatives, including, but not limited to:

• The establishment of the College of Health Sciences and the expansion of programming within the college.
• The significant growth and impressive expansion of our dual enrollment, early middle colleges, and the Marburger STEM Center programs. 
• The unprecedented surge in our sponsored research funding, activities, and scholarship across all the colleges. 
• The substantial work accomplished within institutional grants, foundations' funding, professional development offerings, entrepreneurship, industry funding and support, and congressionally directed spending projects. 
• The transformative success and growth of our Centrepolis Accelerator. 
• The continued growth of enrollment numbers and registered semester credit hours at LTU across all categories. 
• The branding, marketing, and outreach successes that we have enjoyed, which have resulted in significant measurable enhancements to our reputation and perception locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally. 
• The impressive success of our fundraising activities, resulting in significant acquired funding for our student scholarships. 
• The growth of our innovative interdisciplinary educational programming, new Ph.D. programs, and research activities across all departments and colleges. 
• The successes that our scholar athletes have enjoyed on and off the field, including three national championships since last spring.

All these accomplishments contribute to our continued success in the higher education space while remaining true to our theory and practice principles and our five defining pillars:

With more than 6,000 institutions of higher education nationwide, Lawrence Technological University is a member of an elite group of 13 comprehensive, independent, and technologically focused universities. Our continuing intentional focus on experiential education, programming agility, industry immersion, interdisciplinary offerings, students' co-ops and paid internships, small class sizes, one-to-one faculty mentoring, undergraduate research, and one of the largest dual-enrollment programs in the Midwest sets LTU apart from all our peers, even within the elite group of these 13 universities. 

LTU is well positioned to address the dramatic shift in the type of skills needed for the 21st-century workforce and jobs of the future—many of which are yet to be created. Our technological experiential training in all our disciplines has been in our DNA since our founding 92 years ago, and our commitment to our five defining pillars provides LTU students with the skills for success. These are some of the key reasons for our continuing successes: fiscal stability, enrollment growth, expansion of research and scholarship initiatives, and positive student outcomes. 

An investment in an LTU education results in eminent professional employment, with graduates earning some of the top wages within Michigan and the Midwest. A key attribute to making LTU's value proposition one of the best in the nation is providing students opportunities to be successful. From abundant opportunities for merit scholarships, industry co-ops, paid internships at market rate, to funded undergraduate and graduate research opportunities, and well-compensated work-study positions on campus, the possibilities provided to LTU students to ensure their success are bountiful. 

We are proud of our faculty, staff, and student accomplishments. We look forward to our institutional expansion and the ongoing advantages of our growth strategy and investments in exceptional educational and research programming that is focused on the future.
