President’s Letter

Dear friends and colleagues,

As we embark on another exciting semester at Lawrence Technological University, I am pleased to welcome you to this edition of Beyond Boundaries, our annual magazine highlighting the remarkable progress of our University. LTU continues to push the boundaries of education, innovation, and industry partnerships while staying true to our pillars of technological eminence, research & creative practice, interdisciplinary agility, professional excellence, and industry immersion.

I am proud to share that LTU has once again been recognized in The Princeton Review as one of the nation’s top universities, reflecting our commitment to outstanding education grounded in real-world application and innovation. Our entire community— students, faculty, staff, and alumni—continue to drive our mission forward.

This semester has already seen new developments that strengthen LTU’s leadership in higher education and industry collaboration. One major milestone is the creation of the Healthcare Violence Reduction Center, designed to address the growing challenges faced by healthcare professionals through evidence-based solutions.

Another exciting development is the Enabling Partnerships to Increase Innovation Capacity (EPIIC) program. With a $400,000 grant from the National Science Foundation, we are expanding research infrastructure across 48 colleges and universities. This grant will not only strengthen our research capabilities but will also open doors for students and faculty to explore cuttingedge investigations across multiple disciplines.

Our commitment to industry immersion and professional excellence is further evidenced by the success of LTU’s Centropolis Accelerator. With a two million dollar grant from the Ralph C. Wilson Foundation, Centropolis will support product development and startups, helping local small businesses thrive and fostering economic growth.

In response to the rising demand for robotics expertise, we are launching a new Master of Science in Robotics Engineering. This innovative program will place students at the forefront of advancements in automation and intelligent systems, offering hands-on experience and close industry collaboration.

We are also proud to celebrate the College of Architecture and Design’s prominent role in this year’s Detroit Month of Design. Through the exhibition Constructing Futures, our students and faculty have showcased forwardthinking designs and construction methodologies rooted in 3D printing, robotics, and AI—all of which embody the interdisciplinary spirit we champion. This installation, in partnership with Bedrock Detroit, further demonstrates LTU’s dedication to preparing students to lead in industries undergoing transformation.

We continue to be astounded by the generosity of our alumni and corporate partners. Our long-standing supporter and new Board of Trustee member, John Donley, has donated more than $2.1 million to the university this year, adding significantly to the scholarship program that his late father Edward Donley started in 2017. John and Michele are continuing to show their support this fall with funds donated to support LTU’s Affleck House and additional scholarship funds to support students in the College of Architecture and Design. It is this type of support that helps us invest in innovative programs, infrastructure, and scholarships to keep our students at the forefront of emerging trends and ensure they are well-prepared for the challenges of tomorrow.

As we continue to build on these achievements, LTU remains dedicated to providing an educational experience that empowers our students to innovate, explore, and excel across disciplines. I encourage you to enjoy this issue of Beyond Boundaries and stay connected with us as we drive forward with our mission of becoming the university of the future.

Thank you for your ongoing support and engagement in the exciting journey ahead.
