August 22, 2025

SOUTHFIELD, Mich.—Lawrence Technological University welcomes Thomas Prevost to the new position of Executive-in-Residence and Associate Professor of Practice of Design in its College of Architecture and Design (CoAD) beginning this month.

As Executive-in-Residence, Prevost will teach and lead the development of the Mobility Concentration within the Product Design program.

He is also owner/principal of TSP Design & Innovation, a contractor and consultant in automotive design interiors and exteriors, vehicle architecture, and product design. Since 2022, Prevost has served as Innovation Exterior Studio Technical Leader for General Motors, which he joined in 2000 and advanced in all phases of design. These roles included Production Design and Advance Design, Color, Material and Finishes Lead Designer, Cadillac Interior Studio Lead Designer, and Vehicle Architecture Exterior Studio Technical Lead.

Prevost earned his master’s degree in design followed by a Master of Design degree in Industrial Design with Honors with a minor in Luxury in 2001 from Strate College (now Strate School of Design), Issy Les Moulineaux, Paris, France.

He is a recipient of several design awards for the Cadillac Division of General Motors from Wards Automotive, Eyes On Design, North American Car of the Year, and a Detroit News Readers Award, among others.

After 25 years of automotive design experience at multiple levels in multiple countries, Prevost is now Executive-in-Residence and Associate Professor of Practice in Design, undertaking the unique challenge of preparing students to become “Designers for the Future.” He is a strong believer that design is not merely a tool, but a strategic partner in generating new, integrated businesses, products, and innovations that align with the core values of society.
