SOUTHFIELD—This week, Lawrence Technological University will host the International Conference on Smart Mobility and Vehicle Electrification of the Industrial Engineering and Operations Management Society International. The event runs from Tuesday, Oct. 10 to Thursday, Oct. 12 on LTU’s Southfield campus.
The conference will provide a forum for professionals, academics, and researchers to exchange the latest developments in the fields of vehicle electrification and smart mobility.
“Lawrence Tech is proud to host this prestigious worldwide event that further demonstrates the university’s global leadership in industrial engineering,” LTU President Tarek M. Sobh said.
Speakers include EV and smart mobility experts from automakers Ford, General Motors, Stellantis, and Toyota, and major auto suppliers ZF Group, Valeo, Autoliv, Harman International, and Forvia Faurecia. Academics from the Canada, India, Mexico, Namibia, Peru, South Africa, and the United States will also be among the presenters. Sobh will provide an opening keynote speech at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
During the three-day event, panel discussion topics will include various quality improvement methodologies in manufacturing and healthcare, the latest techniques in manufacturing, and diversity and inclusion. There will also be a computer-aided engineering workshop and special activities for students, including undergraduate and graduate research competitions and a high school STEM competition. Participants can also attend tours of The Henry Ford and Ford’s Rouge plant, as well as LTU’s engineering laboratories.
