The LTU recipient, Travis Bowman of Belleville, is a double major in computer science in LTU’s College of Arts and Sciences and robotics engineering in its College of Engineering. He is currently serving in the Air National Guard and works full time at Selfridge Air National Guard Base as an avionics technician. He joined the Air National Guard in 2013, three years after graduation from Belleville High School. He started classes at LTU in 2018.

Bowman is president of LTU’s SVA chapter, where he actively volunteers his time to support the university’s 41 student veterans in their academic pursuits, including providing personal tutoring in mathematics, programming, and physics.

According to SVA, the scholarships aim to assist individuals pursuing degrees in computer science for the upcoming academic year.

Google and SVA officials say the partnership reflects their shared dedication to honoring and aiding those who have served in the military. The selected recipients of this scholarship have demonstrated remarkable commitment to achieving their personal and professional aspirations, while excelling academically.
