LTU Promotes Lilian Crum to Interim Dean, College of Architecture and Design

SOUTHFIELD, Mich.—Lawrence Technological University announces the promotion of Lilian Crum, MFA, to interim dean of its College of Architecture and Design after serving as associate dean since 2022.

Crum joined LTU in 2013 as adjunct professor, and became senior lecturer in 2014, assistant professor of design—tenure track and director of graphic design in 2016, and associate professor of design—tenured in 2022.

She holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in 2D Design/Graphic Design from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, and an Honours Bachelor of Arts and Advanced Diploma in Art and Art History from the University of Toronto and Sheridan College in Ontario, Canada. Crum also holds a Certificate, Business Perspectives for Creative Leaders, from the Yale School of Management.

Crum is partner in the design firm Unsold Studio in Detroit.

Co-author of the forthcoming book “Systems Thinking in Design: Frameworks and Methodologies for the Emerging Designer,” and author of book chapters and multiple professional journal articles, Crum was recognized as a 2023 Oakland County Executive’s “Oakland Together 40 Under 40” honoree, and the recipient of the 2023 Indigo Design Gold Award in the category of Branding for Entertainment, and its 2022 Gold Award, “Michigan Opera Theatre 2021-2022,” Poster and Brochure Design, among others.

Her solo exhibition, “Lilian Crum: Current,” is currently on display at the Alison Milne Gallery in Toronto.

Crum serves on Southfield Public Arts Commission, and has previously served on the Board of Directors of the AIGA Detroit Chapter of AIGA, “the professional association for design.”

Use Your Cell Phone as a Document Camera in Zoom

  • What you will need to have and do
  • Download the mobile Zoom app (either App Store or Google Play)
  • Have your phone plugged in
  • Set up video stand phone holder

From Computer

Log in and start your Zoom session with participants

From Phone

  • Start the Zoom session on your phone app (suggest setting your phone to “Do not disturb” since your phone screen will be seen in Zoom)
  • Type in the Meeting ID and Join
  • Do not use phone audio option to avoid feedback
  • Select “share content” and “screen” to share your cell phone’s screen in your Zoom session
  • Select “start broadcast” from Zoom app. The home screen of your cell phone is now being shared with your participants.

To use your cell phone as a makeshift document camera

  • Open (swipe to switch apps) and select the camera app on your phone
  • Start in photo mode and aim the camera at whatever materials you would like to share
  • This is where you will have to position what you want to share to get the best view – but you will see ‘how you are doing’ in the main Zoom session.
