LTU offers Women in Leadership certificate course

SOUTHFIELD—Lawrence Technological University is offering a new certificate in leadership for women during the Spring 2025 semester.

The course, “Successful Women in Leadership: Clearing Common Hurdles,” will be offered in three live interactive Zoom sessions from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on March 6, 13, and 20.

The sessions will focus on “The Power of Self-Reflection,” “Making Self-Care a Priority,” and “Encountering Barriers and Debunking Antiquated Ideas.”

The cost of the course is $1,250, with a $150 discount for LTU alumni, faculty, staff, and students.

Leading the course will be Patty Castelli, Ph.D., professor in LTU’s College of Business and Information Technology. Castelli has trained more than 30,000 leaders in a variety of global organizations over the course of her career, developing deep expertise in helping current and future leaders develop critical interpersonal and reflective skills that are often overlooked yet essential for leadership success.

Castelli has received numerous awards for scholarship and teaching in leadership. She provides empirical evidence that leaders use to maximize their performance and the performance of their teams. She has developed original research instruments that have been validated and proven reliable for use in organizational leadership worldwide.

Castelli’s research continues to be published in a variety of international leadership journals. She also makes presentations at international leadership conferences where she shares her expertise on reflective leadership and motivational strategies to increase the performance of work teams. Castelli earned her Ph.D. from Wayne State University, her MBA from Lawrence Tech and a bachelor’s degree from Roosevelt University.

Use Your Cell Phone as a Document Camera in Zoom

  • What you will need to have and do
  • Download the mobile Zoom app (either App Store or Google Play)
  • Have your phone plugged in
  • Set up video stand phone holder

From Computer

Log in and start your Zoom session with participants

From Phone

  • Start the Zoom session on your phone app (suggest setting your phone to “Do not disturb” since your phone screen will be seen in Zoom)
  • Type in the Meeting ID and Join
  • Do not use phone audio option to avoid feedback
  • Select “share content” and “screen” to share your cell phone’s screen in your Zoom session
  • Select “start broadcast” from Zoom app. The home screen of your cell phone is now being shared with your participants.

To use your cell phone as a makeshift document camera

  • Open (swipe to switch apps) and select the camera app on your phone
  • Start in photo mode and aim the camera at whatever materials you would like to share
  • This is where you will have to position what you want to share to get the best view – but you will see ‘how you are doing’ in the main Zoom session.
