SOUTHFIELD—Lawrence Technological University has announced a new partnership with Junior Achievement of Southeastern Michigan (JASEM) to have LTU faculty, staff, and students participate with JA as facilitators and subject matter experts in entrepreneurship, financial literacy, technology, and career pathways.

Under the memorandum of understanding, LTU and JA will work together to provide program resources, training, and curriculum for high-quality educational experiences for middle and high school students—as well as meaningful volunteer opportunities for LTU students, faculty, and staff.

Under the agreement, JA will work with the area’s K-12 school students and community organizations working with youth to identify opportunities for LTU to provide educational programs in financial literacy and entrepreneurship.

“We are happy to provide educational experiences taught by LTU’s expert business faculty to young people around Southeastern Michigan,” said Bahman Mirshab, dean of the LTU College of Business and Information Technology. “This partnership will also provide a great opportunity to our bachelor’s and master’s degree business students to volunteer—and help train the LTU students of tomorrow and the next generation of business leaders.”

Added Jason D. Lee, JASEM president and CEO: “We believe all youth and young adults, no matter their race, socio-economic status, or family structure, deserve the opportunities for their hopes and dreams to become reality. To achieve our mission, we believe in partnerships with best-in-class organizations interested in the inspiration and preparation of the next generation. The collaboration with LTU clearly meets our requirements for partnership excellence.”

LTU’s College of Business and Information Technology is one of only 5 percent of the world’s business-degree granting institutions to be accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). It offers undergraduate degrees in business administration with concentrations in accounting, finance, general business, information technology, and marketing, as well as business data analytics. Graduate degrees are offered in business administration, business data analytics, and information technology. Certificate programs are offered in cybersecurity, leadership, and project management. And dual-degree programs are offered in business administration and architecture, business administration and engineering management, and business administration and information technology.

Lawrence Technological University is one of only 13 private, technological, doctoral universities in the United States. Located in Southfield, Mich., LTU was founded in 1932, and offers more than 100 programs through its Colleges of Architecture and Design, Arts and Sciences, Business and Information Technology, and Engineering. PayScale lists Lawrence Tech among the nation’s top 11 percent of universities for alumni salaries. Forbes and The Wall Street Journal rank LTU among the nation’s top 10 percent. U.S. News and World Report lists it in the top tier of best in the Midwest colleges. Students benefit from small class sizes and a real-world, hands-on, “theory and practice” education with an emphasis on leadership. Activities on Lawrence Tech’s 107-acre campus include more than 60 student organizations and NAIA varsity sports.
