LTU Homecoming Week activities set for Sept. 22-28 2024

SOUTHFIELD—Alumni gatherings, athletic events, student celebrations, and an important gaming cultural conference highlight the many activities of Lawrence Technological University’s Homecoming Week, Sept. 22-28.

The weeklong celebration of LTU’s academic, community, and economic impact began Sunday, Sept. 22 with a win by the women’s soccer team against Concordia University at Blue Devil Stadium. Other athletic events include the LTU Athletic Hall of Fame Dinner Friday, Sept. 27.

Community events include the ALT-F4 conference observing the 10th anniversary of the GamerGate controversy on Thursday, Sept. 26 through Saturday, Sept. 28. LTU will also be recognized by the Frank Lloyd Wright Conservatory for the University’s upkeep of the Affleck House on Saturday, Sept. 28 in the Westin Book Cadillac Detroit.

The LTU Alumni Association will hold its annual dinner meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, and there’s an LTU alumni golf outing on Friday, Sept. 27.

The week also featured the annual service awards ceremony for LTU faculty and staff on Tuesday, Sept. 24, and the kickoff of the annual LTU faculty and staff fundraising campaign for student scholarship on Wednesday, Sept. 25.

There will also be fun activities for students throughout the week, including arts and crafts projects, food trucks, games, and movie and video game nights.

Capping off the week will be a full day of activities Saturday. Sept. 28, beginning with a Chi Omega Rho 5-kilometer breast cancer walk at 8 a.m., an alumni tailgate in LTU Parking Lots A and G starting at 9:30 a.m., the Homecoming football game against Judson University at 1 p.m. at Blue Devil Stadium, and a women’s volleyball game against the University of Michigan-Dearborn at 6 p.m. at Don Ridler Field House.

Use Your Cell Phone as a Document Camera in Zoom

  • Download the mobile Zoom app (either App Store or Google Play)
  • Have your phone plugged in
  • Set up video stand phone holder

Log in and start your Zoom session with participants

From Phone

  • Start the Zoom session on your phone app (suggest setting your phone to “Do not disturb” since your phone screen will be seen in Zoom)
  • Type in the Meeting ID and Join
  • Do not use phone audio option to avoid feedback
  • Select “share content” and “screen” to share your cell phone’s screen in your Zoom session
  • Select “start broadcast” from Zoom app. The home screen of your cell phone is now being shared with your participants.

To use your cell phone as a makeshift document camera

  • Open (swipe to switch apps) and select the camera app on your phone
  • Start in photo mode and aim the camera at whatever materials you would like to share
  • This is where you will have to position what you want to share to get the best view – but you will see ‘how you are doing’ in the main Zoom session.
