Letter From the VP of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement

Hello, Alumni and Friends!

I hope you are enjoying the summer! It is hard to believe our students will return to campus for the fall semester in just a few short weeks.

The gratitude of students who receive scholarship support (thanks to generous donors) is one of the most satisfying parts of being on the philanthropy and alumni engagement team. We will continue our fundraising efforts throughout the academic year with events such as LTU’s annual Scholarship Gala, Giving Day, regional visits, class reunions, golf outings, and more. And we always look forward to your involvement—one of the best ways to hear how your Blue Devil education made a difference.

In fact, there are many ways to make your alumni experience meaningful, and in this newsletter, you will find a story that gives you lots of ideas—including Homecoming on Sept. 27. You will also hear directly from students on the impact of their scholarships. And, if you have not been on campus in a long time, it looks far different than it did for the Class of 1975, who will be enjoying an on-campus reunion in September. Thank you to ’74 alum Glen Reimer for suggesting a story on campus growth!

We also hope you will watch the video on Luminary Award winner Jerry Crist, PhD, and think about a professor, staff member, or administrator who made a lifelong impact on you. If you have any suggestions for making your alumni experience more meaningful, shoot us an email at alumni@ltu.edu or stop by our new offices in the Enterprise Building!

Warm regards,

Kevin Finn

To use your cell phone as a makeshift document camera

  • Open (swipe to switch apps) and select the camera app on your phone
  • Start in photo mode and aim the camera at whatever materials you would like to share
  • This is where you will have to position what you want to share to get the best view – but you will see ‘how you are doing’ in the main Zoom session.
