Letter From the Interim Dean

The College of Engineering’s “Dynamic Duo”

Welcome to spring College of Engineering eNewsletter!

In the eight months since I was given the honor of leading the CoE, I continue to be surprised, almost on a daily basis, about the level of talent existing here in this college, as I continue to get to know my new colleagues.

Although I knew my tenure would be short, and I had been in leadership roles in three previous institutions before, the steep learning curve associated with running a new college and the urge to be able to contribute in a meaningful way could be daunting. Unless one is fortunate to be assisted by two experienced, sincere, hardworking, dedicated professionals as I have.

My predecessor, Nabil Grace, Ph.D., did a great job in recruiting Selin Arslan, Ph.D., associate dean for undergraduate studies, and Liping Liu, Ph.D., associate dean for graduate studies and research, respectively—two highly polished professionals and academics, whom I affectionately refer to as the College of Engineering’s “dynamic duo!”

These colleagues went out of their way to make my job look easy, and together we indeed accomplished a great deal in a short period of time. As I am looking at the exit now, in a short few months, I have full confidence that with Liu and Arslan, the college will always be in good hands.

Please enjoy the stories of the exciting advancements produced by the College of Engineering at Lawrence Technological University!

Selin Arslan, Ph.D., associate dean for undergraduate programs and associate professor.
Liping Liu, Ph.D., associate dean of graduate studies and research and
associate professor.
