Lawrence Technological University and Redford Union School District launch college and career readiness partnership

January 30, 2025

Southfield, Mich. — Redford Union School District (RUSD) and Lawrence Technological University (LTU) today announced an academic partnership to support career readiness and offer students another pathway to securing a college degree. Beginning in the fall of 2025, RUSD students will have the opportunity to participate in dual enrollment credits through certificate and credentialing programs at LTU.

“Lawrence Technology University has a track record of developing talent and boasts a top four starting salary in Michigan,” said RUSD Superintendent Jasen Witt. “Through this partnership, we have an opportunity to introduce our students to higher education while inspiring them to try new things and explore technology-based careers. I look forward to witnessing growth in our students through this partnership.”

LTU will offer dual enrollment credit in the form of certificates, credentials, courses, associate degrees and more. LTU will work with RUSD to ensure the needs of students and parents are met.

“Our goal is always to align our success with our partner’s needs,” said Lisa Kujawa, vice president of enrollment management. “From the moment we met with our partners at Redford Union Schools, we became a team united towards providing additional skillsets to their students.”

In addition to the credentials and college credits, RUSD students will be on a fast-track admission program, with a threshold GPA of 3.0, and a potential partnership scholarship worth $17,000 a year.

LTU President Tarek Sobh is pleased to welcome Redford Union School District (RUSD) into LTU’s distinguished network of partners. “As I often emphasize to our collaborators, in today’s world, every career is inherently a technology-driven career. By joining forces with LTU, you have chosen the ideal institution to equip your students with the skills and knowledge necessary for the careers of the future,” said Sobh. “Students from Redford Union Schools will benefit from high-quality academic programs, career readiness workshops, scholarship opportunities, and a wealth of additional resources designed to prepare them for long-term success.”
