Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, Michigan, is seeking to hire a tenure-track Assistant and/or Associate Professor in the broad area of computer engineering to be appointed in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (College of Engineering). Candidates with expertise in, but not limited to, real-time systems, embedded systems, and computer architecture are encouraged to apply.
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering houses six-degree programs: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering (BSCmpE), Bachelor of Science in Embedded Software Engineering (BSESE), Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering (MSECE), Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence (MSAI), and Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical and Computer Engineering (Ph.D.ECE).
The successful candidate is required to teach graduate and undergraduate courses as assigned, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, and establish a strong, externally-funded research program in his/her area of expertise. In addition, the successful candidate will teach courses in Computer Engineering as assigned by the Department Chair, serve the department, college, and profession by undertaking committee work and leadership roles, and advise students.
The following is the list of duties:
Strong written and oral communication skills in English. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
