Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, Michigan, is seeking to hire a tenure-track Assistant and/or Associate Professor in the broad area of artificial intelligence and machine learning to be appointed jointly in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (College of Engineering) and Department of Mathematics and Computer Science (College of Arts and Sciences). Candidates with expertise in, but not limited to, robotics and intelligent automation, as well as machine learning, are encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate is required to teach graduate and undergraduate courses as assigned, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, and establish a strong, externally-funded research program in their area of expertise. In addition, the successful candidate will contribute to departments, colleges, and university functions. Because this position is a joint appointment between two colleges, the successful candidate is expected to work in a highly interdisciplinary and collaborative environment across departments and colleges. The successful candidate will utilize artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to accelerate the design of novel methods in industrial automation and robotics.
Strong written and oral communication skills in English. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
