SUMMARY:

Entry level admissions counselor position. Responsible for all contact with prospective students from high schools, two-year colleges, other universities, and non-traditional students in assigned geographic areas. This includes travel to high schools and community colleges on a regular basis, as well as office counseling and advisement. Telemarketing and written follow-up to qualified candidates is also required. Evening and weekend work required.

 

JOB DUTIES:

Attend college fairs and high school visits in the assigned Michigan geographic territory. Territories assigned to this level receive a maximum of 200 applications per year.

Review with the Director of Admissions to identify college fairs and high school visits within the assigned out of state territory.

Responsible for speaking to large or small groups when out recruiting or conducting an on campus tour presentation.

Coordinate assigned on campus program based on the policies and guide lines that have been established.

Meet with prospective students and guests who visit campus to explain the university programs, housing and student activities available. Responsible to have knowledge on all LTU student populations; undergrad, graduate and international.

Responsible to review applications assigned and apply decision based on admissions requirements established by the Director of Admissions.

Responsible to personally call, email and meet to students in the assigned territory to assist in the application process through enrollment.

Responsible for transfer credit evaluations based on the policies that are documented to inform prospective students of how their credits will transfer.

Responsible to provide on campus tours if requested.

Responsible to attend and support all admissions campus recruitment programs.

Works in a problem solving mode, in a professional and courteous manner, with all areas of the University.

Reports all activities on a regular basis.

Other duties as may be assigned.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; one-year work experience in a customer service field.

 

COMMENTS:

The Admissions counselor must be a self-starter and should have excellent written and oral communication skills, a strong work ethic, an ability to work independently, considerable energy and motivation, a willingness to travel, a good sense of humor, and an interest in becoming a contributing member of the LTU Admissions Team. An affinity for people is essential. A Valid Driver’s license is required for this position.

Use Your Cell Phone as a Document Camera in Zoom

  • What you will need to have and do
  • Download the mobile Zoom app (either App Store or Google Play)
  • Have your phone plugged in
  • Set up video stand phone holder

From Computer

Log in and start your Zoom session with participants

From Phone

  • Start the Zoom session on your phone app (suggest setting your phone to “Do not disturb” since your phone screen will be seen in Zoom)
  • Type in the Meeting ID and Join
  • Do not use phone audio option to avoid feedback
  • Select “share content” and “screen” to share your cell phone’s screen in your Zoom session
  • Select “start broadcast” from Zoom app. The home screen of your cell phone is now being shared with your participants.

To use your cell phone as a makeshift document camera

  • Open (swipe to switch apps) and select the camera app on your phone
  • Start in photo mode and aim the camera at whatever materials you would like to share
  • This is where you will have to position what you want to share to get the best view – but you will see ‘how you are doing’ in the main Zoom session.
