College of Health Sciences

Letter from the Dean

Hello and welcome to LTU’s College of Health Sciences.

LTU achieved a significant milestone in 2024 with the opening of the first new college in 50 years. I’m proud to lead the College of Health Sciences (CoHS) whose mission is to address the increasing demand for qualified, technologically educated healthcare professionals.

We do this by cultivating patient-centered healthcare providers through hands-on learning and evidence- and research-based teaching using innovative and emerging technologies like generative artificial intelligence, machine learning, and digital treatment modalities. Unique to CoHS is our implementation of a “hub and spoke” model of education that offers students a variety of specialization options within your base degree program.

Do you picture yourself in one of the cutting-edge healthcare professions? Our college is here to prepare the next generation of nurses, physician assistants, cardiovascular perfusionists, and healthcare administrators who are forward-thinking and committed to improving patient outcomes. As a CoHS student, you’ll learn in state-of-the-art facilities and develop the skills needed for success in your career.

I invite you to share the excitement in the College of Health Sciences. Together, we will strive to make meaningful contributions to healthcare.

Sincerely,
Mary C. Schutten
Dean, College of Health Sciences
