Professional Background

Betsy Williams is a Principal and the Office Design Leader at HKS Detroit, where she drives design innovation through project pin-ups, design conversations, and initiatives like the Detroit Design Fellowship. Her current portfolio spans healthcare, life sciences, and mission-critical projects, where she is known for her thoughtful, place-based, and human-centered approach to design.

Prior to joining HKS, Betsy served as Design Director at Hamilton Anderson Associates, where she led impactful housing and cultural projects in Detroit. Regardless of scale or project type, Betsy is committed to creating environments that are not only sustainable and efficient but also inspiring and joyful.

Betsy holds a Master of Architecture degree from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design, is a LEED Accredited Professional, and has taught Design Studios at both the University of Michigan and the Illinois Institute of Technology. Her work has been published in leading architecture books and journals and has been recognized with awards from the AIA and the American Wood Council.
