Professional Background

Haryono Tandra received his Ph.D. in mathematics from Flinders University, Australia, in 2001. Before moving to the U.S. in 2010, he was at the University of Alberta, Canada, the University of Adelaide, Australia, and Universitas Pelita Harapan, Indonesia. Tandra’s primary research interest is abstract harmonic analysis, particularly on the character (primitive ideal) theory of discrete nilpotent groups. Outside of mathematics, he is interested in postmodern philosophy, painting, drawing, watching movie, and traveling with his wife.
