Caroline Stahl is an Architectural Designer and Design Researcher interested in architectural representation and material experimentation’s ability to increase agency for occupants in complex social and ecological conditions. In architectural practice, Caroline has worked on adaptive reuse projects throughout the Detroit Metropolitan area. In her personal work, Caroline uses interdisciplinary design methods, borrowing from garment design, video game design, and architectural drawing conventions to create workflows between speculative design and material prototypes to challenge architectural representation to encompass a broader scope. Caroline’s work has been recognized for its representational strength through the Taubman College Thesis Award for Sensibility in Aesthetic Exploration in 2024. Caroline holds a Bachelor of Art in Environmental Design from Montana State University along with a Master of Architecture from the University of Michigan.
