Director of Industry Partnerships and Entrepreneurship

Professional Background

Ross is the Director of Industry Partnerships & Entrepreneurship at Lawrence Technological University where he launches university centers. In this capacity he has assisted with the launch of an entrepreneurship hardware accelerator, a Construction Safety Research Center and a Healthcare Violence Reduction Center. Prior to this experience he served as the as the Chief Executive Officer of one of the first entrepreneurship accelerators operating in Detroit and Cleveland. Over a ten-year period he led this non-profit to mentor 80 tech-based startups, assist in raising $17 million in startup investment, provide over 550 events, raise over $20 million in donations, and contribute to revitalizing these two cities.

As a Quicken Loans executive for the ten years prior, he coordinated the launch of the company’s national online mortgage retail center, 18 branches, and the company’s first process improvement team. During a prior tenure with MetLife, Ross launched the General Motors (GM) National Retiree Service Center that generated $12 million in annual revenue by providing a variety of benefit services to GM’s 380,000 retirees nationwide. He also led the turn-around of a MetLife claim office that serviced General Electric’s 350,000 team members by exceeding service goals and reducing annual costs by 21%.

Ross has a Masters in Business Administration from Wayne State University, a Bachelors in Business Administration from Michigan State University, a Six Sigma Black Belt certification, and been recognized as one of the top 100 leaders advancing technology innovation in Detroit.

Use Your Cell Phone as a Document Camera in Zoom

  • What you will need to have and do
  • Download the mobile Zoom app (either App Store or Google Play)
  • Have your phone plugged in
  • Set up video stand phone holder

From Computer

Log in and start your Zoom session with participants

From Phone

  • Start the Zoom session on your phone app (suggest setting your phone to “Do not disturb” since your phone screen will be seen in Zoom)
  • Type in the Meeting ID and Join
  • Do not use phone audio option to avoid feedback
  • Select “share content” and “screen” to share your cell phone’s screen in your Zoom session
  • Select “start broadcast” from Zoom app. The home screen of your cell phone is now being shared with your participants.

To use your cell phone as a makeshift document camera

  • Open (swipe to switch apps) and select the camera app on your phone
  • Start in photo mode and aim the camera at whatever materials you would like to share
  • This is where you will have to position what you want to share to get the best view – but you will see ‘how you are doing’ in the main Zoom session.
