Emilie Rottman, AIA, is the Founding Principal of Frame.d. She has over fifteen years of experience in architecture, focusing on multi-family and single-family residential, K-12 education, and adaptive reuse. Many of her projects involve close coordination with local government agencies— including historic preservation, zoning boards, and local community stakeholders to ensure each design respects the character and context of the neighborhood.  Her leadership, coupled with acute attention to detail, ensures that each project is executed with precision.

She graduated from the University of Maryland with a Master of Architecture, a Master of Real Estate Development, and a Certificate in Urban Design and graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture. Emilie strives to develop meaningful architectural solutions that are responsive to their context and has had the opportunity to explore these interests working on a number of academic competitions, including the ULI Hines Competition and the NAIOP Capital Challenge, in addition to completing her architectural thesis “The Michigan Central Station: Re-Discovering Identity Among Ruins.” The project examined repurposing the historic train station to help revitalize the City of Detroit. Emilie is a registered architect in Washington, D.C. She is very active with her city and enjoys being involved with a number of young professional organizations.

Emilie is also the fourth generation of women in her family to earn a postgraduate degree and own a business, carrying forward a legacy of resilience, leadership, and determination that continues to shape her approach to design.
