Professional Background

Martin Rodriguez Jr. is an interdisciplinary designer, researcher, and educator whose work blends architecture, digital media, and speculative storytelling. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Interior Architecture from the University of Houston and a Master of Architecture with High Distinction from the University of Michigan. He is currently completing a one-year residency at the Taubman College Visualization Lab, where he explores new intersections between digital aesthetics and material environments.

Martin’s thesis, Digital Primitivism, earned awards for both “Representation/New Mediums” and “History, Theory & Framing.” He also received the College Distinction Award from Taubman College of Architecture for his contributions to the school and student body. In 2025, he was named a Metropolis Future100 honoree and featured in Metropolis Magazine.
With professional experience spanning commercial and residential architecture, interior design, and experimental installation, Martin has collaborated with T+E+A+M, EXTENTS, Cadaster, and PDR (Planning Design Research). His current research investigates queerness, performance, and cultural critique as forms of resistance—expanding how architecture can tell stories and foster inclusive, playful spaces.
