Faculty + Staff

David
Richardson
Adjunct Faculty

Dave Richardson is the first LEED-accredited architect in Livingston County, a partner at Lindhout Associates, and a longtime bringer of donuts. He earned his Master of Architecture from the University of Michigan and has spent his career designing offices, assembly spaces, retail, medical, and restaurants throughout southeast Michigan, many of which have received awards from the AIA. As the Sustainability Chief at his firm, Dave sees the world through green-colored glasses. He brings that sensibility to every project, such as the Farmington Hills City Hall, where he reduced annual energy use by 55% and water use by 25% while still increasing the size of the building by 20%. He has introduced sustainability features such as geothermal systems, self-tinting glass, and energy recovery ventilation to his clients, resulting in both cost- and energy-saving benefits. He co-founded Eco Brighton, an environmental conservation organization, and has served on the board of two Farmington-based arts associations. His areas of interest include regenerative agriculture and regenerative medicine due to the recent tearing of his rotator cuff.
