Professional Background

Thomas Prevost is Executive-in-Residence and Associate Professor of Practice in Design at Lawrence Technological University’s College of Architecture and Design (CoAD). In this role, he leads the development of the Mobility Concentration within the Product Design program, bringing over 25 years of global industry experience to the academic environment.

Prevost is the founder and principal of TSP Design, a consultancy specializing in automotive interiors and exteriors, vehicle architecture, and product innovation. He most recently served as Innovation Exterior Studio Manager at General Motors, where he advanced through a wide range of design leadership roles since joining the company in 2000. His positions included Color and Material Lead Designer, Interior Studio Lead Designer, and Exterior Studio Technical Lead.

Prevost earned both his bachelor’s and Master of Design degrees in Industrial Design—with honors and a minor in Luxury—from Strate School of Design in Paris, France.

Throughout his career, Prevost has been recognized with several prestigious awards for his work with GM’s Cadillac division, including honors from Wards Automotive, Eyes On Design, North American Car of the Year, and The Detroit News Readers’ Choice Awards.

Now immersed in design education, Prevost is committed to preparing the next generation of “Designers for the Future.” He views design not simply as a functional skill, but as a strategic partner in shaping integrated, human-centered innovations aligned with societal values.

Use Your Cell Phone as a Document Camera in Zoom

  • What you will need to have and do
  • Download the mobile Zoom app (either App Store or Google Play)
  • Have your phone plugged in
  • Set up video stand phone holder

From Computer

Log in and start your Zoom session with participants

From Phone

  • Start the Zoom session on your phone app (suggest setting your phone to “Do not disturb” since your phone screen will be seen in Zoom)
  • Type in the Meeting ID and Join
  • Do not use phone audio option to avoid feedback
  • Select “share content” and “screen” to share your cell phone’s screen in your Zoom session
  • Select “start broadcast” from Zoom app. The home screen of your cell phone is now being shared with your participants.

To use your cell phone as a makeshift document camera

  • Open (swipe to switch apps) and select the camera app on your phone
  • Start in photo mode and aim the camera at whatever materials you would like to share
  • This is where you will have to position what you want to share to get the best view – but you will see ‘how you are doing’ in the main Zoom session.
