Jacob Nugent’s graduate thesis at the University of Michigan entitled “The Country: Critters, Crop Circles, Christians, and Criminals” explores the realities and futures of rural America. Documenting existing conditions and proposing new speculative aesthetics to broaden cultural acceptance within rural space. Nugent’s thesis won Taubman Colleges Award for “Sensibility for Aesthetic Exploration.”
