Julia
Jovanovic
Adjunct Faculty

Julia Jovanovic, Ph.D. began her academic career at Lawrence Technological University in the College of Architecture and Design. After completing her Master’s degree in architecture, she developed an interest in environmental acoustics, which led her to complete a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering at the University of Windsor. Julia’s post-graduate research focused on the measurement, evaluation and mitigation of environmental noise and its associated community impacts, mainly through effective land use and planning policies. For her research she was summoned as an expert witness for the Canadian Parliament’s Committee on Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and has served as an advisor to Transport Canada, NAV Canada, the Canadian Airport Council, Greater Toronto Airport Authority, and municipal and provincial agencies. Through her design and research Julia emphasized the integration of systems thinking and design thinking approaches to problem solving and innovation. She believes that creativity and scientific rigour can result in novel, holistic, and sensitive architecture and design outcomes.
