Prof. Viktoria Ilic earned a master’s degree in biology from York University in Toronto, Canada. During her graduate studies, her research focused on the anticancer therapeutic potential of a naturally occurring compound, hinokiflavone, and its effects on various cancer cell lines. She successfully defended and published her work in 2020. Beyond her academic research, she has experience conducting research in a hospital setting, collaborating with physicians in the operating room for clinical trials, and mentoring undergraduate students in laboratory research.
She began teaching at LTU through the dual enrollment program in September 2024, preparing high school students for the rigor of university-level coursework. She teaches Introduction to Biological Principles and Biology 1 at LTU and has been teaching Molecular and Cellular Biology courses at Oakland Community College since 2022.
In her free time, Viktoria enjoys spending time with family and friends. She also loves traveling, reading, and participating in Zumba dance classes.
