Professional Background

Dr. A. Murat Hattat is an Associate Professor of Marketing at Lawrence Technological University’s College of Business and Information Technology. He joined the faculty at LTU after earning his Ph.D. in Business Administration, with a concentration in Marketing from the University of Rhode Island. Prior to his academic career, Dr. Hattat held managerial positions in marketing management, product management, and professional selling at multinational companies.

Dr. Hattat is deeply committed to excellence in teaching both undergraduate and graduate programs at LTU. Over several academic years, he has taught a wide range of courses, including undergraduate classes in Professional Selling, Digital Marketing, Consumer Analytics, Consumer Behavior, Principles of Marketing, Strategic Management, and Business Policy. He has also taught Strategic Marketing Management at the graduate level and supervised independent studies in marketing. He actively uses experiential learning strategies such as business simulations, inviting guest speakers from industry, designing hands-on projects involving data analytics and consumer insights, and fostering critical discussions. His dynamic approach enhances academic learning and prepares students for the challenges and demands of the contemporary business environment. He is known for creating innovative courses and integrating hands-on applications, business simulations, client-based projects, and industry certifications—including Salesforce, HubSpot, Tableau, and Google Analytics—into his classes to prepare students for professional success.

Dr. Hattat’s research explores how consumers interpret and respond to product and brand information, focusing on ingredient labels, nutrition facts, and branding cues in food, health, and retail settings. His work has been published in Psychology & Marketing, the Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice, and the European Journal of Marketing. He often presents at major international conferences such as ACR and AMA. Additionally, he has collaborated in team efforts to secure external funding as Senior Personnel on an NSF MRI grant supporting interdisciplinary consumer neuroscience research.

Dr. Hattat has held several leadership roles within the college, including Chair of the Faculty Council and Chair of the college’s AACSB Faculty Development Committee. He has also served on the Faculty Senate, the college’s AACSB Mission & Strategic Planning Committee, the AACSB Curriculum and Standards Committee, and the AACSB Assessment Committee. Additionally, he contributes as a journal and conference reviewer and actively participates in community partnerships, student advising, and outreach efforts.

Through his teaching, research, and service, Dr. Hattat is committed to improving student learning, producing insights that shape marketing practice and policy, and contributing to the broader academic and professional community.

Use Your Cell Phone as a Document Camera in Zoom

  • Download the mobile Zoom app (either App Store or Google Play)
  • Have your phone plugged in
  • Set up video stand phone holder

From Computer

Log in and start your Zoom session with participants

From Phone

  • Start the Zoom session on your phone app (suggest setting your phone to “Do not disturb” since your phone screen will be seen in Zoom)
  • Type in the Meeting ID and Join
  • Do not use phone audio option to avoid feedback
  • Select “share content” and “screen” to share your cell phone’s screen in your Zoom session
  • Select “start broadcast” from Zoom app. The home screen of your cell phone is now being shared with your participants.

To use your cell phone as a makeshift document camera

  • Open (swipe to switch apps) and select the camera app on your phone
  • Start in photo mode and aim the camera at whatever materials you would like to share
  • This is where you will have to position what you want to share to get the best view – but you will see ‘how you are doing’ in the main Zoom session.
