Associate Professor

Dr. A. Murat Hattat is an Associate Professor of Marketing at Lawrence Technological University’s College of Business and Information Technology. He joined the faculty at LTU after earning his Ph.D. in Business Administration, with a concentration in Marketing from the University of Rhode Island. Prior to his academic career, Dr. Hattat held managerial positions in marketing management, product management, and professional selling at multinational companies.

Dr. Hattat’s research interests focus on understanding consumer behavior, information processing, and branding strategies. His work explores areas such as product management, the influence of brand gender on consumer perceptions, and decision-making around multi-attribute products. Additionally, he investigates product attribute positioning, the impact of ingredient labeling on consumer food choices, and how consumer perceptions differ between organic and conventional foods. His scholarly work includes publications in Psychology & Marketing, the Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice, and the European Journal of Marketing. He has presented his findings at major international conferences sponsored by the American Marketing Association, the Association for Consumer Research, the Association of Marketing Theory and Practice, the European Association for Consumer Research, and the Northeast Decision Sciences Institute. He is actively involved in ongoing research projects related to ingredient labeling, consumer product evaluations, and health perceptions, with several studies currently under review at leading journals.

Dr. Hattat is deeply committed to excellence in teaching both undergraduate and graduate programs at LTU. Over several academic years, he has taught a diverse range of courses, including undergraduate courses in Professional Selling, Digital Marketing, Consumer Analytics, Consumer Behavior, Principles of Marketing, Strategic Management and Business Policy. Additionally, he has taught Strategic Marketing Management at the graduate level and has supervised independent studies in marketing. He actively employs experiential learning strategies that include business simulations, inviting guest speakers from the industry, designing hands-on projects involving data analytics and consumer insights, and fostering critical discussions. His dynamic approach enhances academic learning and prepares students for the challenges and demands of the contemporary business environment.

Dr. Hattat has held several leadership positions within the college, including Chair of the Faculty Council and Chair of the College AACSB Faculty Development Committee. He has also served as a member of the Faculty Senate, the College AACSB Mission & Strategic Planning Committee, the College AACSB Curriculum and Standards Committee, and the College AACSB Assessment Committee. Dr. Hattat is dedicated to fostering an engaging, data-driven learning environment that prepares students for success in today’s dynamic marketing landscape.

Use Your Cell Phone as a Document Camera in Zoom

  • What you will need to have and do
  • Download the mobile Zoom app (either App Store or Google Play)
  • Have your phone plugged in
  • Set up video stand phone holder

From Computer

Log in and start your Zoom session with participants

From Phone

  • Start the Zoom session on your phone app (suggest setting your phone to “Do not disturb” since your phone screen will be seen in Zoom)
  • Type in the Meeting ID and Join
  • Do not use phone audio option to avoid feedback
  • Select “share content” and “screen” to share your cell phone’s screen in your Zoom session
  • Select “start broadcast” from Zoom app. The home screen of your cell phone is now being shared with your participants.

To use your cell phone as a makeshift document camera

  • Open (swipe to switch apps) and select the camera app on your phone
  • Start in photo mode and aim the camera at whatever materials you would like to share
  • This is where you will have to position what you want to share to get the best view – but you will see ‘how you are doing’ in the main Zoom session.
