Laurie has taught English and communications at the college level for several years, while also maintaining careers in journalism, academic publishing and most recently, nonprofit communications. Connecting with students and giving real-world/industry advice on writing and communications is something she really enjoys; she prides herself on keeping up with new trends and technology. She has a BA from Western Michigan University in English with a focus on journalism and communications and a Master’s from Oakland University in English, and has been published in newspapers and online publications. Outside work, her interests include reading, playing the piano, traveling both within Michigan and other states and abroad, biking, hiking and swimming.
