Erika Forest is a lifelong Michigander with a passion for science. She earned both her BSc and MSc in Biology from Grand Valley State University, completing her master’s degree in 2022. During her graduate studies, she taught laboratory courses and performed research on the molecular mechanisms of aging, experiences that sparked her interest in science outreach.
She later worked as a microbiologist at Matrix Sciences, where she conducted laboratory testing and served as a client liaison to detect, measure, and identify pathogens and other microorganisms to support public health. Erika joined Lawrence Technological University in 2024 as the Science Outreach Coordinator for the Department of Natural Sciences, where she develops hands-on STEM programs and engages future scientists in biology, chemistry, and physics.
