Ty Faulkner is national speaker and thought leader in health information technology fields. He’s a college lecturer teaching courses in leadership, research careers, communications, and health technology at multiple colleges in Michigan. Faulkner honorably served in the US Marine Corps, holds an undergraduate degree from Indiana University’s School of Public & Environmental Affairs, his graduate degree is from Michigan State University in Communications & Advertising. He also studied at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Executive MBA School specializing in Pharmaceutical & Chemical studies. He’s certified as an American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) Health Information Technology Software Applications Specialist, he’s a steering committee leader for the world largest healthcare tech association called Healthcare Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS), he’s a member of The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME), and he’s e member of the distinguished healthcare data security leadership “think tank” group known as the Association for Executives in Healthcare Information Security (AEHIS). He has served as a Federal Advisor to key Washington, DC federal policy departments including Health Human Services (HHS) and the Office of National Coordinator (ONC). He’s an Entrepreneur leading several start-up technology and blockchain companies and he has earned numerous leadership awards reaching “best-in-class” Who’s Who status in Health IT.

Use Your Cell Phone as a Document Camera in Zoom

  • What you will need to have and do
  • Download the mobile Zoom app (either App Store or Google Play)
  • Have your phone plugged in
  • Set up video stand phone holder

From Computer

Log in and start your Zoom session with participants

From Phone

  • Start the Zoom session on your phone app (suggest setting your phone to “Do not disturb” since your phone screen will be seen in Zoom)
  • Type in the Meeting ID and Join
  • Do not use phone audio option to avoid feedback
  • Select “share content” and “screen” to share your cell phone’s screen in your Zoom session
  • Select “start broadcast” from Zoom app. The home screen of your cell phone is now being shared with your participants.

To use your cell phone as a makeshift document camera

  • Open (swipe to switch apps) and select the camera app on your phone
  • Start in photo mode and aim the camera at whatever materials you would like to share
  • This is where you will have to position what you want to share to get the best view – but you will see ‘how you are doing’ in the main Zoom session.
