Professional Background

Carolyn is President and founder of the Interior Designers Coalition for Change (IDCFC), a 501(c)(3) non-profit, which has provided commercial interior design services to communities and individuals where there is a need and resources are limited since 2009. In addition, Carolyn is an Account Manager for the Mohawk Group servicing southeast Michigan.

With the ability to make connections between diversified groups and organizations Carolyn acts as catalyst creating cross-discipline collaboration for the purpose of fostering greater outcomes on projects. She is an avid supporter of the interior design industry and has participated on committees for AIA Detroit, ASID Michigan, IIDA Michigan and USGBC Detroit. In 2015 she received the Honorary Affiliate Award from AIA Detroit for her outstanding service to the design community.

Carolyn holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture from Lawrence Technological University. She previously worked for the Washington Times as a Marketing Director for the International Reports Division, traveling extensively abroad where she deepened her understanding of interior design and its impact on the community. Prior to that, she was principal of CBD Design, consulting on interior design, graphic design and theater set design.

Use Your Cell Phone as a Document Camera in Zoom

  • What you will need to have and do
  • Download the mobile Zoom app (either App Store or Google Play)
  • Have your phone plugged in
  • Set up video stand phone holder

From Computer

Log in and start your Zoom session with participants

From Phone

  • Start the Zoom session on your phone app (suggest setting your phone to “Do not disturb” since your phone screen will be seen in Zoom)
  • Type in the Meeting ID and Join
  • Do not use phone audio option to avoid feedback
  • Select “share content” and “screen” to share your cell phone’s screen in your Zoom session
  • Select “start broadcast” from Zoom app. The home screen of your cell phone is now being shared with your participants.

To use your cell phone as a makeshift document camera

  • Open (swipe to switch apps) and select the camera app on your phone
  • Start in photo mode and aim the camera at whatever materials you would like to share
  • This is where you will have to position what you want to share to get the best view – but you will see ‘how you are doing’ in the main Zoom session.
