What is a Turnitin Assignment?
Turnitin is a plagiarism detection service that identifies potentially plagiarized or improperly cited text and is integrated in Canvas. When your assignment is submitted, Turnitin automatically checks submitted work for originality and will publish as part of the assignment a report detailing findings.
How do I view my Turnitin Report?
There are two ways you can see your submission report, that is if your instructor has allowed for their students to view them.
Log into Canvas
Select the course in which your assignment is located.
- From the left-hand navigation, select Assignments.
- Select the relevant assignment.
To the right-hand side of your assignment, hit Submission details.
The Turnitin feedback icon (looks like a text bubble, circled in red in image below) represents your submission’s content that matches sources found on the internet. Clicking View Feedback will allow you to view any annotated feedback your instructor provided.
When you click the Turnitin feedback icon you'll be directed to a report provides a more detailed view of how similar your submission was to other sources. The right sidebar provides information on which internet sources came up as a match and highlights the matching content within your assignment’s text.

- On the course navigation menu, select Grades.
- On the Grades page, scroll down to the relevant assignment and click on the assignment's name to open the assignment.
