The software titles listed on this page are currently available for installation on personal individual computer systems (primarily Windows PCs). Licensing and installation requirements differ for each software title.

Ansys now offers a free student version.

Due to conflicts, Ansys cannot be installed if you already have the network version installed.

Autodesk software is available to Lawrence Tech students and faculty through the Autodesk Education Community. Full software versions such as Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Revit, Autodesk 3ds Max, Autodesk Maya, and AutoCAD can be downloaded following free registration and account activation.

To download Autodesk software:

  1. Go to the Autodesk Education Community website
  2. Click “Get Products” then click “Get Started”
  3. Complete your registration using your LTU email address.
  4. You will receive an email with a link to activate your account.

After your account is activated, you may download the Autodesk software.

PLEASE NOTE: You must be an actively enrolled student to participate in the Education Community. Membership privileges expire if a student is not currently registered for classes. Privileges also expire following graduation from Lawrence Tech.

Autodesk software can only be installed on a single computer per user.

Students can download Labview at no cost! Please follow the directions at ni.com.

The license is good for 6 months and can be renewed.

Available to LTU Students, Faculty and Staff from the Help Desk.

Only one installation of MapleSoft per user is allowed. Users may use the software during the license period which is typically one year from July 1 – June 30. Should the Lawrence Tech license agreement expire, users are required to remove all MapleSoft software from their computer. Students must remove all MapleSoft software from their computer when they leave Lawrence Tech.

Microsoft Office is currently not available to purchase. However, Microsoft allows access to Office online for FREE to anyone using a PERSONAL email address.

Sign in with your personal (NOT ltu.edu) email account

You can then use Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and some other online apps.

Free and discounted downloads for LTU students only.

Please follow the directions below:

Navigate to ltu.onthehub.com 

Click Sign in the upper right corner, then click on Register.

Enter your LTU webmail address. Click Continue.

Fill out the account registration page. Click Register.

Access your LTU email, open the email titled, “Email address confirmation.” Click on the link in the email to verify your address.

You may now download Windows 10 from this site.

Students and Faculty need to create an account in My SOLIDWORKS 

For Training videos, students and Faculty can go to Student License and Videos.

  1. Uninstall any/all previous versions of SOLIDWORKS
  2. Go to www.solidworks.com/SEK
  3. Use SEK-ID = XSEK12 and enter all relevant information into the form
  4. Choose ‘2023’ for the most recent version of SOLIDWORKS
  5. You will then be asked to enter the school’s unique SEK Serial Number:

Please email the Help Desk at helpdesk@ltu.edu  to obtain the Serial Number.

  1. Follow all remaining instructions and accept all defaults
  2. Your VAR Name is GoEngineer

SQL Server Developer Edition is now free.

Microsoft has made all versions of SQL Server Developer Edition available for free.

Depending on what you need to do with a PDF document, LTU has multiple tools available.

Adobe Acrobat Reader- This application should already be installed on your LTU computer. If it is not, you can contact the Help Desk for assistance with installation. You can use this program for the following functions:

  • Open/read a PDF
  • Annotate or highlight a PDF
  • Sign a PDF
  • Fill out interactive forms

Microsoft Word- This application is part of the Microsoft Office suite and is already installed on all LTU computers. While Word is generally used for editing .doc and .docx files, it can also be used to convert PDF’s to those files types, edit them, and save them back into the PDF format if needed. You can use this program for the following functions:

  • Open and convert PDF to .docx
  • Full editing capability
    •  Insert / delete pictures
    •  Insert / edit text
  •  Save as PDF. Caveat – File conversion may mess up formatting.

Google Docs- This application is part of Google Drive and has similar functionality to Microsoft Word, and is available online to anybody with an active LTU Google account. You can use this program for the following functions:

  • Open and convert PDF to .docx
  • Full editing capability
    •  Insert / delete pictures
    •  Insert / edit text
  • Save as PDF. Caveat – File conversion may mess up formatting.
  • Collaboration – Share the document with others who also need to contribute edits

     

Firefox / Google Chrome – These browsers have some limited PDF editing capabilities, and are already installed on all LTU computers. You can use these programs for the following functions:

  • Open/read a PDF- Firefox & Chrome
  • Highlight a PDF – Firefox & Chrome
  • Fill out interactive forms- Firefox & Chrome
  • Annotate a PDF- Firefox
  • Sign a PDF- Firefox
  • Add images- Firefox
  • Add text- Firefox

Adobe Acrobat Pro – Paid Adobe licenses are available to current Students, Faculty, and Staff only. These licenses are limited, and are only provided on a case-by-case basis to serve specific job functions.

Adobe’s full paid version of Acrobat should only be needed for creating fillable forms, and splitting and merging PDF’s without converting to other formats (such as Word and Google Docs formats).  If your job requires the ability to create fillable PDF forms, you can reach out to the Help Desk to request access to a paid Adobe license, and your request will be reviewed.

Use Your Cell Phone as a Document Camera in Zoom

  • What you will need to have and do
  • Download the mobile Zoom app (either App Store or Google Play)
  • Have your phone plugged in
  • Set up video stand phone holder

From Computer

Log in and start your Zoom session with participants

From Phone

  • Start the Zoom session on your phone app (suggest setting your phone to “Do not disturb” since your phone screen will be seen in Zoom)
  • Type in the Meeting ID and Join
  • Do not use phone audio option to avoid feedback
  • Select “share content” and “screen” to share your cell phone’s screen in your Zoom session
  • Select “start broadcast” from Zoom app. The home screen of your cell phone is now being shared with your participants.

To use your cell phone as a makeshift document camera

  • Open (swipe to switch apps) and select the camera app on your phone
  • Start in photo mode and aim the camera at whatever materials you would like to share
  • This is where you will have to position what you want to share to get the best view – but you will see ‘how you are doing’ in the main Zoom session.
