MORE ABOUT THE HUMAN LIBRARY GLOBAL MOVEMENT

Founded in Copenhagen, Denmark in 2000, the HUMAN LIBRARY is now hosted globally. The model is that each person sharing their story is a book and, like in a library, the book can be checked out for a short time, generally 20 minutes, by our students, faculty, and staff, the readers . Each book has a specific title and will talk about their experience with that topic. The reader interacts with the book , asking questions to gain a deeper understanding. More information can be found on the HUMAN LIBRARY  organization website, https://humanlibrary.org

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Volunteer as a "Book"
Are you like an open book and do you have valuable experiences that readers could benefit from learning about? Are you motivated to help challenge stigma and stereotypes through dialogue and one-on-one conversations? If the answer is yes, then this is the perfect opportunity.

Volunteer as a "Librarian"
The Librarians ensure that Readers are appropriately matched with Books for loans andthat the framework of the Human Library event is upheld.

Volunteer as a "Reader"
All persons present at the Human Library event is welcome to be a reader. To be a Reader you have to accept the Rules for Readers and understand the concept and mission of the Human Library. You will need to; be in the right frame of mind, be ready to ask respectful questions, be sober, and present in an appropriate mood/temperament.  Just be curious and open to hearing another person's life story.
