This new semester at CoAS is filled with exciting scientific research, challenging competitions, and critical, thought-provoking guest lectures. I hope you were able to join us on February 6th for one such lecture in our CoAS Seminar Series by John MacNeill Miller, Ph.D., associate professor of English from Allegheny College, who presented “Experimental Curiosity – The Relationship Between Literature and Science.”
Dedicated to our university’s mission of research for the greater good, you’ll find all our college’s faculty engaged in important research along with their students. The opportunity to work on active research at the undergraduate level is a hallmark of Lawrence Technological University, one we’re proud of. Many of these students present and co-author the results of their research in published scientific journals.
In this edition, you will meet the new manager of the Robotics Lab, Devson Butani, whose role is critical in imbuing all our courses with cutting-edge artificial intelligence, bringing robots into our courses to streamline research and enhance education, and inviting local high school students to explore their future at LTU.
Highlighting the accomplishments of one of our international students, you’ll learn why CoAS actively seeks out foreign students to come to our unique university.
You’ll get to spend “A Day in The Life of a Math Professor.” Senior lecturer Sharon Carter “loves teaching math,” and you’ll see why her students love her.
I welcome your comments about this edition. Also, if you’re interested in supporting our academic mission, please write to me at scidean@ltu.edu.
